The Paul Robeson files contain mainly photographs and clippings documenting Robeson's career, including performances, international travel, and family life. Legal documents, newspapers, publications, some of the clippings, and Peekskill riots material contain reporting and gathered source material dealing with Robeson's politics and reactions to his leftist affiliations.

Contains typed biographical notes on Robeson and letters to editorial giving updates on reporting, primarily on Robeson's personal life. One letter is signed "Noah Thompson" and is addressed to "Uncle Carl."

Includes lawsuit against Robeson by the U.S. State Department circa 1950, and Amicus brief filed in support of Robeson's appeal, circa 1955.

Includes clipping with headline that reads "Youth jailed 287 days by mistake goes free"
